CHES Workshop

In 2014, New Jersey City University students began offering a workshop to help their fellow students prepare for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam. This workshop originated from members of the Health Science Student Organization who realized that they did not all have the means to take formal preparation CHES workshops or classes.  Simultaneously, they figured that if you could teach the material to one another, than you KNOW the material!

This peer-to-peer teaching concept was hence born and NJCU Public Health Education graduates experienced a vast jump in the number of students sitting for and passing the CHES exam. Due to its growing success, the sessions have since been provided four times to an estimated 100 attendees consisting of students and non-students alike. We’re happy to share this workshop with other budding Health Education students and professionals to either assist them with studying for the CHES or to provide the structure to start their own CHES student-run workshop!
